All women are different shapes and sizes, which can make it difficult to find flattering clothing as high street stores tend to stock in terms of this seasons fashion ‘must have’, which often only suits a small range of body shapes. Therefore you need to be aware of what kinds of clothing suit your individual shape when you go out shopping, so that you can mix and match styles from different shops and ranges to create outfits that flatter you and make the best of your assets.
Pear Shape
Big hips and a small top half equals a classic pear shape, and you will need to stay away from clothes that emphasis your hips and thighs, so avoid tapered trousers and opt for tailored and flared designs that are nice and wide at the bottom, as these will help balance out your legs and make then seem much slimmer.
Apple Shape
The classic apple shape is big around the waist, so avoid any tops or trouser with horizontal stripes, as these make you appear even larger around the waist, and if you do have a big tummy avoid very tight fitting tops as these can be very unflattering to flabby waists. Opt for tailored shirts and blouses that nip in just under the chest and then flare out again at the waist to give you a smoother waistline.
Hour Glass Shape
The hour glass is a classic feminine shape – big on the top, small at the waist and then big around the hips, and can look very sexy if matched with the right clothing. Pick tailored shirts that will show off your shapely waist, but make sure they flare out a little at the bottom so that they don’t look tight across the hips. Like the pear shape pick trousers that are long and wide at the bottom to balance out larger hips and thighs.
Emo fashion is all about wearing the clothes you want to wear and being individual, so don’t be tempted to be lazy and just throw on the archetypal skinny black jeans and stripy scarf and think you have create a top emo look.
You need to get creative and original, so take time to think about what clothes suit you and what patterns and designs you like best, and build your top emo outfits up from scratch.
Tops
The modern emo look is all about skinny lines and no frills, so don’t be tempted on floaty, fussy tops or total black on black colour otherwise you will look more eighties than emo. Think skinny fit when buying vests, t-shirts, shirts and jumpers, but get creative in how you layer these items together to create interesting and dramatic colour and pattern combinations. A skinny black t-shirt over a stripy top is a classic emo look, but jazz it up a bit by throwing a few more colours into the mix such as a dark military green t-shirt over a bright red and black stripy jumper.
Trousers
Again think skinny fit when it comes to trousers, or if you have the figure for it you could try going completely the other way and get really baggy with casual skater style utility trousers, which look pretty sexy and cool when matched with teeny, tight t-shirts and vests with a bit of toned belly showing. Jeans should be skinny fit for the best emo look, and can be very dark or very light (in the middle tones are bit wishy washy for emo), but if you have chunky legs then avoid skinny jeans as they will be very unflattering, and try a slim line fit in a more tailored trouser instead.
Skirts
Skirts can be emo too, and a top emo look is a sexy short skirt combined with long stripy socks or killer patterned black tights and sky-high chunky heels. Avoid long black floaty skirts as this is a bit too goth, but a tight long black skirt teemed with a tight fitted shirt, chunky belt and killer heels can look very hot and emo if accessorised well.
Shoes
The emo look loves flat shoes (unless you are wearing a skirt and want high heels) so think sneakers, pumps and flats, and avoid anything with a mid heel unless the design is particularly funky, as this will just look too conservative.
Watches are not only practical items but they are also be great accessories that can compliment an outfit or look, and so it is important that you choose the right watch to suit your style and budget.
Watch Types
There are many different types of watch available from high tech to traditional and these include:
* Mechanical - these traditional watches are made with cogs and gears and will need winding up, and although these are beautiful pieces of craftsmanship they do gradually lose time over the weeks and so need constant readjustment. You can get automatic mechanical watches that are self-winding, which can be a compromise between reliability and tradition.
* Battery Power Quartz – this is one of the most common types of watch available as it is reliable, practical and robust and because you do not have to wind up the watch it keeps very accurate time (although you will have to replace the battery every two-three years).
* Digital – this newer technology uses LED lights to display the time on a digital read out, rather than using a traditional analogue clock face and hands, and can tell you the time very accurately down to tenths of a second.
* Anadigi – these watches are a hybrid of analogue and digital watches and contain both a clock face and a digital LED display.
A high quality leather jacket is a bonus for any wardrobe, as this hardwearing material not only looks good, but also gets better with age, and so a classic style can last you literally for years and will never go out of fashion.
Benefits of Leather
Leather is one of the most versatile and durable fabrics available for clothing, and it is one of those rare materials that allows your skin to breathe, so as well as keeping you nice and warm in the winter it will also keep you cool in the summer.
Leather also does not wrinkle or crease very easily, so you don’t have to worry about wearing or storing it for long periods of time, and it also keeps very clean and fresh smelling, so you will not have to keep washing it even if you wear it all the time.
